Dentigerous Cyst Associated with an Impacted Lower Left Canine Tooth in a 42-Year-Old Man: A Case Report

Abstract

Dentigerous cysts are common odontogenic cysts associated with impacted teeth, typically asymptomatic but occasionally presenting with pain and swelling. This case report describes a 42-year-old male with a dentigerous cyst related to an impacted lower left canine tooth, presenting with pain and swelling of one month’s duration. A panoramic radiograph revealed a unilocular radiolucency surrounding the crown of the impacted tooth, and surgical enucleation with tooth extraction was performed. Histopathological analysis confirmed a dentigerous cyst with no inflammatory cells observed. This case highlights the importance of panoramic radiography in diagnosing symptomatic odontogenic cysts and the efficacy of surgical intervention in resolving symptoms and preventing complications.
